.We need your help identifying candidates for three AmeriCorps VISTA positions; two that will focus on women veterans issues and a third that will establish and facilitate a Disaster Relief Team composed of UWM faculty, staff, and students.
The grant that we have secured will will bring two AmeriCorps VISTAs to UW-Milwaukee and one to the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative's WOVIN Project. VISTAs work full-time at their placement for one or more years, receive a monthly living stipend, as well as an education award to pay off student loans or to go toward future education costs. Below is a brief description of each of the three positions, as well as a link for individuals to apply.
While VISTA positions are full-time jobs, we can consider candidates who are in the last year or two of their undergraduate career, especially if they have only one daytime class that would take them away from the office.
Please consider passing this information on to any student or community member who might be interested in veteran issues, or in establishing a Disaster Relief Team! Below are the links to each of the three jobs. Veterans are encourage to apply!
Applications will be accepted until June 11th, and VISTAs will start on July 25th.`
