Who we are

Founded and run by veterans, MHVI's mission is to help homeless and at-risk veterans reach and maintain their highest levels of independence. We offer unique programs to fill the gaps and don't duplicate what others do, and cooperate with the Veterans Administration, Wis. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, County Veterans Service Officers, and other non-profit agencies.

Since 2008 we have helped more than 3,000 veterans and their famililes in southeastern Wisconsin to obtain benefits, housing, health care, furniture, household goods, food, clothing, transporation, toiletries and other necessities.

NEW VetsNet and Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative become separate non-profit groups

Milwaukee (March 29, 2017) – The Wisconsin Veterans Network (VetsNet) has been established as a new non-profit group separate from the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative, its parent organization, the two groups announced jointly Wednesday.

VetsNet and the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative (MHVI) will become separate tax-exempt charitable entities.

MHVI Board President Tom Williams said the changes would help the groups become more effective by enabling them to concentrate on their individual missions. View the full press release

Business spotlight - Iron Horse Hotel Milwaukee

Thanks to our friends at the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee, especially General Manager Hector Nunez (pictured here with MHVI Executive Director Kirsten Sobieski), for arranging a generous donation of mattresses and box springs for MHVI!  The Iron Horse knows how important a comfortable night's sleep is to it's patrons, just as it is to the veterans and families we help through our Home Support Program.  When you visit the Iron Horse, be sure to thank them for the many ways they support veterans in our community.
